The Australian Financial Review reported that Chinese electric vehicles are rapidly occupying the Australian market, and this trend is likely to continue to accelerate.

Statistics show that 16% of all new cars sold in Australia are made in China (after Japan and Thailand). In the field of pure electric vehicles, Chinese-made cars completely dominate.

According to the Australian Financial Review, more than 86% of all electric cars in Australia come from China. Currently, all Tesla and Polestars, all-electric Volvos and some BMWS sold in Australia are made in China. Byd is the number two brand in Australia in terms of sales of electric vehicles, after Tesla.

Like Lotus, Polestars and Volvo were acquired by Chinese manufacturers. Lotus will also launch an electric SUV in Australia priced at $239,000.

Overcapacity in China has pushed manufacturers to export overseas, even as other countries grapple with supply chain problems. At the same time, the influence of Chinese car brands is gradually expanding.

Chinese cars sold in Australia are usually good value for money, with high specs and good maintenance. In areas where they were previously not good at design, Chinese brands are also gradually starting to make efforts.

Nowadays, Chinese cars are no longer synonymous with shanzhai cars. Driven by fierce competition in its domestic market, China has become the world's largest producer of electric vehicles.
